養老渓谷 Yoro Keikoku

Tsutsumori Momiji Valley

The area is so well known for autumn leaves, it is referred to as "Momiji Valley." Deep in the mountains, visitors can take in the colorful panorama of red and gold Momiji and Japanese beech Trees.

Access : 10min by Satoyama GO (Temporary Bus) from Kominato Tetsudo Yoro Keikoku Station, or 25min by Isumi Tetsudo Kazusa Nakano Station (*Only in-service on weekends and holidays)

 

 

Awamata Falls

The pride of Yoro Keikoku Valley, Awamata Falls is also referred to as the Kazusa Yoro Falls. With a height of 30m and a length of 100m, you won't want to miss this natural wonder. Follow the trail to the base of the falls and take in the colors of the season along the way. The brilliant colors of Japanese Momiji trees and a variety of oak paint the valley in a scene that is unique to autumn.

Access : 15min bus ride from Kominato Tetsudo Yoro Keikoku Station, or Isumi Tetsudo Kazusa Nakano Station

鹿野山神野寺  Kanozan Jinyaji Temple

Founded approximately 1400 years ago by Prince Shotoku, Kanozan Jinyaji Temple is one of the prominent ancient temples in the Kanto Region. The temple grounds are home to the giant mulberry, a natural monument. The temple gate is also a nationally designated important cultural property. You will also find historical treasures including works such as Niome by Unkei and Hakuja by Hidarijinngoro,  famous carpenters from the Edo Period. The temple is a popular location for viewing spring flowers and fall colors, as well as a popular spot for Hatsumode, the first temple visit of the new year. Visitors are also recommend to visit the nearby viewing platform which offers expansive views of the Kujukuri Valley.

access : From JR Uchibo Line Sanuki Station, take the bus bound for Mother Farm/Jinyaji to "Jinyaji Temple". About 11 min by car from Mother Farm.

白岩・四方木不動滝 Shiraiwa/ Yomogi Fudotaki Falls

The Shiraiwa area is well know for it serene autumn beauty. The pure white rock face and deep red of autumn leaves contrast to form a picturesque scene.
Explore the untouched wilderness, deep within the bamboo and Japanese cedar forest. There visitors will find the 10m tall 8m wide Fudotaki Falls. If enough water flows over the cliff face, the falls split into two separate waterfalls.
The best time to take in this beautiful natural scene is during the early winter as the leaves begin to change.

佐倉城址公園 Sakura Joshi Park

Sakura Castle Site Park, is a park built within the grounds of Sakura Castle. In the park, visitors see the castle tower, dry moat, and castle structures that define the landscape. Among the hibiscus and oak trees, there is also a pair of 400 year old trees known as the "Mokkoku Couple" (which are a Chiba Designate Natural Monument).
The castle itself is ranked as one of "Japan's Top 100 Castles" and the park ranks as one of "Japan's Top 100 Historical Parks." The area is a great place to see the changing leaves of the Japanese maple.

From the Keiyo Line Keisei Sakura Station South Exit, take the Chiba Green Bus from the Tamachi Bus Warehouse, heading for the "National Museum." It is also a 5 min walk from the "National Museum of Japanese History" bus stop.

香取神宮 Katori Jingu Shrine

Katori Jingu Shrine is a well-known spot for cheery blossom viewing in the spring, but from autumn to winter the changing gingko, maple, and hibiscus trees paint the temple grounds in brilliant and calming colors.

成田山公園 Narita Park

Narita Park, located directly behind Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, has an area of 165,000㎡. Well known for its Japanese plum trees, fall is a time when the park's 250 old hibiscus, oak, and gingko trees show their brilliant colors.
