Onigawara Roof Tiles and the Founder’s Hall Dragon Carvings

“Onigawara Roof Tiles and the Founder’s Hall Dragon Carvings at Tanjoji Temple”

About a one-minute walk away is the head temple for the Nichiren Sect of Buddhism, “Kominato Tanjoji.” The temple’s “Onigawara” decorative ridge-end tiles are among the world’s largest with a height of 4 meters, weight of 2.8 tons, and surface area of about 40m2.
At the founder’s hall, visitors can also marvel at the intricately carved dragons which decorate the entrance way.
It’s a must see for those staying in the area.
